Quick answers about private training, leash reactivity, scheduling, and what to expect.

  • Start with an in home evaluation /assessment of your dog’s behavior. We’ll review your dog’s history, day-to-day. routines and establish training goals.

  • At this time, we focus on private instruction and behavior problems. Group classes are not currently offered.

  • Private Instruction is initiated in your home. We want to get a picture of the dynamic and behavior that takes place between you and your dog to offer the most accurate plan. Subsequent sessions can take place in home, on neighborhood walks or agreed public areas. We’ll confirm the best location during scheduling.

  • It depends on you and your dog and what your goal is. As with any new learning, the more you practice the faster you get results and reach your goals. Being consistent will determine success. We set realistic milestones during your evaluation.

  • You are the trainer! We are there to provide tools and education for you to train and bond with your dog. The goal is for you to learn what to do and how to practice it at home. You’ll get homework and clear steps between sessions.

  • Not usually. Reactivity can come from excitement, fear, frustration and lack of structure or confidence (both yours and your dog’s), rather than true aggression. We work to identify triggers and teach calm alternative responses. Aggression, is sometimes purposefully encouraged by owners, but can also be based in fear. Oddly enough, most dogs that exhibit leash reactivity are fine with other dogs once they’re off leash.

  • Yes. We commonly work on leash pulling, barking, jumping, impulse control, and overexcitement. We’ll focus on what matters most in your daily life.

  • Yes! Private puppy sessions focus on foundations like leash introduction, house training support, nipping/biting and basic skills. Check out our Puppy Package!

  • Private Instruction starts at $200 for two sessions. Depending on location, travel charges may apply. We also offer a Leash Walking Package (3 sessions) $250 and a Puppy Package (3 sessions) $250.

  • Payment is due in full at the first session. No refunds.

  • We serve South and central San Luis Obispo County and North Santa Barbara County. We also provide training between on the coast from Los Osos to Cambria.

  • Availability varies week to week. The fastest way to get on the calendar is to call, text or email with your phone number, city and the main issues you’d like to address.
